UNTIL YOU WERE HERE

THE WEDDING STORY OF JEN & BASTIEN

🇺🇸 A wedding film about absence, distance, and everything that finally comes together.

Jennifer had always dreamed of France. Of Europe, of Paris, of this idea of a place far away that had been with her since childhood. But that dream took on a whole new meaning when she met Bastien.

Their story could have remained a fleeting chapter, held back by distance, countries, time zones, and the pandemic. But it endured. It grew despite the separation, through phone calls, hard work, family, and the people who supported them on both sides.

At Château Gassies, this wedding weekend brought it all together: the France she had dreamed of, the love they had nurtured across the distance, the families finally reunited, the friends who had traveled from far away, and that “I do” as the defining moment.

I wanted to craft this film as a sensitive narrative, in which each voice reveals a different aspect of their story: the humor of an American officiant trying to recite a line from Lamartine, a father’s words about his daughter, a mother’s emotion as she realizes how far they’ve come, Jennifer’s vows to Bastien, and finally Bastien’s response.

An elegant yet vibrant film, intimate yet full of celebration, structured as a journey: from absence to presence, from distance to reunion, from a childhood dream to a life beginning together.

🇫🇷 A wedding film about longing, distance, and everything that eventually comes together.

Jennifer had always dreamed of France—of Europe, of Paris, of that sense of a faraway place that had been with her since childhood. But that dream took on a whole new meaning when she met Bastien.

Their story could have remained a fleeting chapter, thwarted by distance, countries, time zones, and the pandemic. But it endured. It grew stronger despite the separation, thanks to phone calls, their efforts, their families, and those who supported them from afar.

At Château Gassies, this wedding weekend became the convergence of it all: the France of one’s dreams, a love that has weathered the years, families reunited, friends who traveled from afar, and that “I do”—a defining moment.

I wanted to craft this film as a sensitive narrative, in which each voice reveals a part of their story: the humor of an American officiant who tries to quote Lamartine, a father’s gaze upon his daughter, a mother’s words as she reflects on how far they’ve come, Jennifer’s words to Bastien, and finally, Bastien’s response.

A film that is at once elegant and lively, intimate and festive, conceived as a journey: from absence to presence, from distance to reunion, from a childhood dream to a life together as a couple.
